Sevenoaks Karate Jutsu club was established over 25 years ago, and under the successful leadership of Shihan Russell Peacock (5th Dan) it was moved to the Sevenoaks Leisure Centre 15 years ago, where the club remained until 2010. Under Shihan Peacock’s leadership, the club remained popular and grew a solid foundation of high grade students.
When Shihan Peacock emigrated to Australia in 2006, Sempai Les Underdown from the nearby Maidstone Karate Justu Club took over the leadership for two years, supported by Sempai’s Mick Tyndall and Mike Giles.
In 2008, Shihan Tim Goullet (5th Dan) was able to take over the leadership of the club, despite being based some distance away in West London. Under his guidance, several junior students have worked their way up through the grades to become junior instructors, and the Sevenoaks Club has been well represented at local and national level tournaments.
Sevenoaks Karate Jutsu has strong support from its high-grade members, in particular Sempai Ross Mansell, who began as a student under Shihan Peacock, and took over the teaching of the junior karate and kickboxing classes in 2010.
Most recently, July 2011 saw the promotion of Shihan Tim to his current grade of 5th Dan, recognising his contribution to the Karate Jutsu association and to the Sevenoaks Club over many years.
The club continues to expand and develop, with Sempai Matt Bolt being appointed Chief Instructor at the end of 2011. The clubs students continue to excel in all aspects of Karate, with Matt the current National Kata champion. The current junior members are rapidly following in their instructors’ footsteps, with continuing tournament success, all being rooted in traditional martial arts values instilled throughout Karate Jutsu Kai.
Sempai Matt Bolt 2nd Dan
